ART & ARCHAEOLOGY IN LINCOLNSHIRE

The Collection and Usher Gallery is Lincolnshires' premier contemporary Art gallery and Museum. The buildings sit side by side in the centre of the city close to Steep Hill and enjoy spectacular views of Lincoln Cathedral.

The Collection includes a wealth of artefacts from the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages, Roman, Saxon, Viking and Medieval eras as well as fine, decorative and contemporary visual arts. The Collection has a vibrant contemporary exhibition programme.

Don’t forget the OPEM Exhibition is still on at The Collection until 3 May if you haven’t been yet. Spot your friends in my video installation ;-)

The Lemon Tree and Me - John Newling

This last vestige of the tree sits in my studio like some ancient relic. But what an amazing relic it is. The roots of the lemon were the core of where the constructed soil met the natural systems of the tree; both ecological station and vehicle; a matrix as both heart and an echo of the complexities of the relationship.

The Lemon Tree & Me evolved as an intense co-relationship where the material expression of the work was the result of that relationship; a working from life; a love song; sung for 688 days…
